Podcast of the Week: Young Free and Coupled

❉ Young Free and Coupled: Events, Scenarios, and Social Commentary from a Busy Young Couple.

We’re big fans of podcasts here at We Are Cult, and we’re always looking for more shows to subscribe to. So if you’re looking for ear candy, we’re here to help!

This week: Issa and Shemeika tell us all about Young Free and Coupled – a young married couple discussing/ laughing on all society throws at us.

What’s your podcast about?

We are Issa and Shemeika. A married couple discussing their past experiences and lessons learned in life. We discuss lessons learned through having children and everyday situations, and try to give advice on topics we’re passionate about. We also love to dissect issues going on in society.

If you had to describe your show in 10 words or less, what would you say?

Real, funny honest energetic loving couple, discussing lifes issues.

Which episode would you recommend for a first-time listener?

Contact with the opposites ex: Part 1. We talk about our previous relationships, have a mini-argument and talk about some pretty uncomfortable truths.

Do you have a favourite episode?

Hmmm. That’s hard! It would have to be “Listener Questions” We love hearing from our listeners/viewers. We discuss Brexit from our point of view, Donald Trump, compare American culture to ours (Guns!) and we had a lot of fun too.

What inspired you to create this podcast?

Well, we believe that we have a different perspective on society as we married young and have been together a while. Plus having kids mean we have to grow up fast as society moves really fast. But because we don’t agree on a lot that Society says is right/ acceptable, we decided to Podcast about that! In reality, this happened after a lot of debating and having to confront our fears because we know that when you have strong opinions, lots of people have strong reactions!

Which guests have you had on your podcast so far?

2X Bestseller Author Nick Britton. Plus more influential people in the near future.

Who would be your dream guest?

Shemeika would like to have Akala because he’s very educated in issues that young people face in today’s climate. Issa would like to have Ghostface because he loves his music (Although he can’t listen to his music because the kids are around a lot!)

Which equipment do you use for your podcast set-up?

Just a Blue Yeti USB Microphone, a laptop and a Canon 700D. Technically our mouths too.

What would you say is the best length of time for a podcast episode?

There isn’t one! I’ve listened to 3 hour podcasts that I loved, but I’m sure that someone who isn’t into the subject matter would fall asleep! It’s all about quality, not quantity (sorry to pull out that phrase!)

Which podcasts (other than yours) would you recommend we listen to?

“Moms and Murder” is two American mums discussing True Crime in a very funny and entertaining way. “In Poor Taste” is two funny guys that will have you laughing all day with their offbeat conversations, hilarious fake adverts, and impersonations. And for any great British podcasts check out www.BritPodScene.com and you will have a host of quality podcasts to choose from.

Where is your podcast available to listen to?

The Apple Podcasts App. www.youngfreeandcoupled.com. And any other podcasting apps/platforms. Also, we put our episodes and trailers on Youtube, and Facebook.

What is the future of podcasting as a creative medium?

Up, up and up! There are no rules and there’s a whole load of stories that Podcasters have for every type of person. When you find a great podcast, its like finding a best friend, and who wouldn’t want that?! “The future’s bright, the future’s Orange” (Anyone older than25 would get that!)
