What’s your podcast about?
On the Best in the World with Richard Parr I speak to World and Olympic champions.
If you had to describe your show in 10 words or less, what would you say?
Learning how World and Olympic Champions become the best.
Which episode would you recommend for a first-time listener? Do you have a favourite episode?
I would start off listening to any of the episodes that have guests from the sport you like the most. I have quite a few favourite episodes. Among them include Stephanie Rice (Swimming Olympic Champion), Chad Hedrick (Speed Skating Olympic Champion) and Joe Jacobi (Canoe Slalom Olympic Champion).
What inspired you to create this podcast?
I’ve been a sports broadcaster for over 13 years and I wanted to have more in-depth conversations with people who have reached the pinnacles of their careers.
Which guests have you had on your podcast so far?
I’ve spoken to over 100 World and Olympic Champions. Some of the most famous interviewees include Stephen Hendry (Snooker), Ken Shamrock (UFC) and David Campese (Rugby).
Who would be your dream guest?
Usain Bolt.
Which equipment do you use for your podcast set-up?
I use a Yeti Microphone, Ecamm Recorder for Skype and actually Garageband for editing.
What would you say is the best length of time for a podcast episode?
The beauty of podcasting is that it is long form content. So the longer the better. I personally enjoy podcasts just under an hour.
Which podcasts (other than yours) would you recommend we listen to?
I enjoy a variety including the Tim Ferriss Show, Lewis Howes’ School of Greatness, Eofire, Football Weekly, Talk is Jericho and the Steve Austin Show.
Where is your podcast available to listen to?
Pretty much everywhere that you can get podcasts. iTunes, Stitcher, acast or sportuccino.com. We also give a few extras on our patreon page patreon.com/bestintheworld.
What is the future of podcasting as a creative medium?
I’m really intrigued to see how podcasting could grow on the Alexa and Google Home platforms.
