In 1962’s ‘The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner’, an adaptation of Alan Sillitoe’s novel, Tom Courtenay plays a teenager sent to Borstal run by Michael Redgrave, where he discovers his talent for cross-country running.
Directed by Tony Richardson, the film won the BAFTA film award, Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles (Tom Courtenay).
