In 2006 music producer & audio researcher Alan Gubby (Revbjelde / Buried Treasure) inherited a box of reel-to-reel recordings by John Baker from the BBC’s Radiophonic Workshop. What started as an album project for the Trunk label soon became an obsessive 16-year investigation into the origins of British electronic music, broadcast propaganda, military history, esoteric traditions and the transformative nature of sound. During this time The Delaware Road has manifested as an illustrated script, a compilation album, a graphic zine, a theatrical show and a series of now legendary live events.
The omnibus edition brings all these varied strands together in a captivating, 196-page book featuring new artwork by Nick Taylor & Jarrod Gosling, alternative designs, early concepts, an appendix packed with concert photographs, location shoots plus a revised & fully illustrated script. Intended as the definitive Delaware document, it’s an expansive summation of the project and a cohesive reimagining of a post-war Albion.
