Jessica Lee Morgan, who regular We Are Cult readers will know from her well-received album Around The Block as well as her work with David Palfreyman & Nick Pegg and Woody Woodmansey’s Holy Holy, is going on a world tour to promote her forthcoming album, Forthright.

Stymied by current travel restrictions, she decided to reinvent touring and play a virtual gig in every time zone in the world, starting in San Francisco on 27th May. All shows are played at 7pm local time but streamed on Jessica’s Youtube channel (, so fans can tune in from wherever they are in the world.

She will be joined on bass guitar by Christian Thomas, who co-produced her new album.

Forthright was due for release this year but the COVID-19 pandemic almost made Jessica reconsider plans. “I didn’t want it to be a lockdown release, because I’ve been working on this album for a long time. But with the situation not looking like it’s going to change any time soon, I decided to just go ahead and release it while it’s fresh.”

The album is written, arranged, performed and co-produced by Jessica. One song is co-written with Mary Hopkin, Jessica’s mother, who also provides backing vocals along with other family members. “‘The Less Said The Better’ has been very well received at our live shows, with its singalong chorus, and people have been asking where to buy it, so here it is!”

The first single, Modern Day Girl, will make its video debut on 29th May, while Jessica and Christian Thomas, who wrote the song together, are playing in Adak, a small island off the west coast of Alaska.
