Doctor Who: Time War – Uncharted: Pursuit out now

Paul McGann, Sonny McGann, and Emma Campbell-Jones race across the stars in a brand-new box set of full-cast audio drama, released today.

Doctor Who: Time War Uncharted 2: Pursuit

“The Time War gives us scope for ever stranger battlegrounds and enemies – from an auction in a strange country mansion, to a world of stories split in two by the Doctor’s actions, and a deserted, haunted London. We end the set in The First Forest – a place of myth, where the new Lords of Time seek power and Hieronyma Friend, with her familiar faces, is up to her old tricks. Will the Doctor and his great-grandson be reconciled – and how does Cass’s fate affect them all?” – Producer Matt Fitton.

Following on from the dramatic climax of last year’s box set Time War – Uncharted: Reflections, the Doctor’s great-grandson Alex (Sonny McGann) has stolen the TARDIS and is travelling with Cass Fermazzi (Emma Campbell-Jones) through an uncharted universe of myth and shifting reality.

That story continues in Time War – Uncharted: Pursuit, a box set comprising four brand-new hour-long episodes of thrilling audio drama.

Wanda Opalinska, Dan Starkey, Louise Faulkner (2.1 Spoil of War)

The Doctor (Paul McGann), having been turned against Alex and Cass, is hot on their trail, with help from Hieronyma Friend. This duplicitous temporal diplomat has a habit of wearing the faces of the Doctor’s old companions, and in this volume is voiced by Niky Wardley and Lizzie Hopley (who previously played Tamsin Drew and Gemma Griffin).

As the Time War rages on in this unpredictable universe, with a new force ruling Gallifrey, the two time-travelling pairs race towards an almighty clash – but who will be hit hardest by the fallout?

Doctor Who: Time War – Uncharted: Pursuit is now available to purchase from just £24.99 (download to own) or £30.99 (download to own + collector’s edition CD), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.

Felicity Cant, Lizzie Hopley, Sonny McGann, Emma Campbell-Jones, Clive Hayward (2.3 See-Saw).

The four thrilling tales for the Eighth Doctor are:

Spoil of War by Mark Wright

Alex and Cass arrive at a sinister stately home to find they are expected… Guests are assembling for an exclusive auction, but what unique item are they bidding on? And who will profit?

The Doctor and Hieronyma Friend are on Alex and Cass’s trail – the Doctor will find them, whatever the cost.

The Tale of Alex by Katharine Armitage

The hero Alex is known throughout the cosmos as the saviour of planets and righter of wrongs. So, when he lands on the starving world of Igg, the locals feel all their prayers have been answered.

But Alex’s greatest enemy is hot on his tail, and the villainous Doctor has plans of his own.

See-Saw by James Moran

Cass and Alex pick up a distress signal that takes them to 1920s London. But the city is deserted, as if abandoned mere seconds ago.

The Doctor and Friend arrive at the same time, in the same place – but neither pair can see or hear one another… Why can they hear unfinished nursery rhymes? And what happens if they complete them?

The First Forest by Tim Foley

A long time ago, before the Time Lords ever left their shores, they imagined what lay beyond them.

When the Doctor crash-lands in a weird woodland, surrounded by friends and enemies, he will discover he has travelled further than his people could possibly imagine.

Niky Wardley, John Ramm, Dan Starkey (2.4 First Forest).

Time War – Uncharted: Pursuit also stars Dan Starkey as the Sontarans, as well as Wanda Opalinska, Louise Faulkner, Sam Stafford, Indra Ové, Vineeta Rishi, Felicity Cant, Clive Hayward, and John Ramm.

Paul McGann said: “There’s a slow dawning and a realisation through the story; the Doctor, despite having tried to do good, becomes the villain of the piece. It’s a morality tale. Those cracks, the vulnerabilities of the Doctor – we don’t want to hear it all the time, but when it happens, it matters!”

Sonny McGann added: “Alex has hijacked the TARDIS, he’s convinced Cass to go along with him. And he’s determined to try and prove himself as good as the Doctor, if not better. It’s definitely a fool’s plan, and he’s bound to blunder his way through it. But he’s determined to make something good of a pretty rough situation he’s found himself in.”

And Emma Campbell-Jones said: “At the beginning, Cass is in an almighty huff with Alex for having nicked the TARDIS and doesn’t trust his piloting abilities or choices and decisions at all. She’s really cross with him. And that lasts for a while. They have this see-saw thing, Alex and Cass, about who saves the day and who takes charge and who has the right idea.”
