BFI UHD & Blu-ray releases for July 2025

❉ BFI National Archive’s restoration of Women in Love available for the first time on 4K UHD, Human Traffic newly remastered in 4K, and Bhaji On The Beach on Blu-ray.

The BFI has announced its three home entertainment releases for July 2025: Women In Love (1969) and Human Traffic (1999) on UHD and Blu-ray, Bhaji On The Beach (1993) on Blu-ray.

14 July: WOMEN IN LOVE on UHD

Women in Love: 4K Ultra HD

Ken Russell’s legendary adaptation of DH Lawrence’s Women in Love (1969), starring the late Glenda Jackson in an Academy Award-winning performance, is released on 4K UHD (a BFI National Archive digital restoration) for the first time anywhere in the world. Ground-breaking, with opulent design, handsome cinematography and its famous erotically charged nude wrestling scene, Women In Love also stars Alan Bates, Oliver Reed and Jennie Linden.

14 July: BHAJI ON THE BEACH on Blu-ray

Bhaji on the Beach: Blu-ray

Gurinder Chadha’s debut film Bhaji On The Beach (1993) is a charming and critically acclaimed comedy drama about a group of British Asian women from Birmingham who bond during a day trip to Blackpool. Written by Meera Syal (Goodness Gracious MeThe Kumars) it was the first major feature film to be directed by a British Asian woman. Gurinder Chadha’s following films have included the hits Bend It Like Beckham and Blinded by the Light.

21 July: HUMAN TRAFFIC on UHD and Blu-ray

Human Traffic: 4K Ultra HD (Also available on Blu-ray)

Newly remastered in 4K, Human Traffic,  the huge cult classic from 1999 with a dance music soundtrack arranged by Pete Tong, and including tracks by Fatboy Slim, Brainbug and Orbital, comes to UHD and Blu-ray. Directed by Justin Kerrigan, Danny Dyer (EastEndersThe Football Factory) is seen in his first film role, playing Moff; the film also stars John Simm (Life on MarsDoctor Who) as Jip, Lorraine Pilkington (Monarch of the Glen) as Lulu, Shaun Parkes (The Mummy ReturnsSmall Axe: Mangrove) as Koop and Nicola Reynolds (The MachineIdeal) as Nina.

HUMAN TRAFFIC will also have cinema screenings across the UK in July.

Each of these releases will contain a selection of extra features and an illustrated booklet (first pressing only) to provide contextual information.
