‘Drôle De Félix’ and ‘Ma Vie’ available for first time on VOD

❉ Peccadillo is revisiting two classic gay films from award-winning French directors Ducastel & Martineau.

Peccadillo celebrates the work of Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau, award-winning French directors of Theo and Hugo. Drôle de Félix is very first film that launched Peccadillo and helped forge a new wave of LGBT contemporary cinema.

DRÔLE DE FĖLIX (2000)

Carefree Félix (Sami Bouajila) lives happily in Dieppe with his boyfriend, Daniel. However, when he gets made redundant, he decides to journey alone to Marseilles, carrying little more than his HIV medication and a rainbow kite, in search of the father he never knew.

Backpacking, hitch hiking, meeting strangers and stealing cars are all part of an adventure through the French Countryside helping Felix discover the important things in life, including himself.  The film won the prestigious Teddy Award at Berlin International Film Festival with Sami Bouajila giving an uplifting performance as Félix as arguably one of the first roles (possibly the only role) whereby someone’s HIV status is incidental to the plot.

MA VIE (2002)

Taking the form of a video diary, he films his mother, his best friend and his teacher, who he’s attempting to match up with his single mother. However, he slowly understanding that his teacher is actually the object of his own desires. This award-winning film has become an LGBT classic.

Jimmy Tavares takes the lead role as Etienne with Laurent his teacher played by Jonathan Zaccaï (Robin Hood (2010) and The White Crow (2018)

Peccadillo has also released a number of Ducastel and Martineau’s other films including Cockles and Muscles, Born in ’68, and Theo & Hugo.
