The Silver Archive Special: Out now from Obverse!

❉ Obverse Books announce the launch title for their new Silver Archive range: The Christmas Box by Paul Magrs.

Building on the success of Obverse Books’ Black Archive series, which focuses on Doctor Who, the Silver Archive takes a broader look at genre television – from the earliest BBC forays into all the way to the current Netflix generation.

The main quarterly range will commence in March 2018 with a trilogy of books looking at acclaimed ATV series Sapphire and Steel, but the Silver Archive also has room for more quirky and general studies, beginning with The Christmas Box from novelist and critic, Paul Magrs.

Christmas television is a traditionally hit and miss affair, combined in equal part fabulous special occasion and tiresome old tattiness, but in amongst the repeats of decrepit movies and trite kids’ specials, there’s a wealth of hidden gems to be uncovered. Join Paul Magrs as he takes an informed, if idiosyncratic, journey through the world of festive TV, picking out the highlights of his own lifetime of watching…

Paul Magrs is a novelist, critic and artist, who published his first novel, ‘Marked for Life’ in 1995. He has written approaching 30 novels, as well as numerous short stories, audio plays and critical textbooks. Read our Q&A with him here!

The Christmas Box (ISBN 9781909031548, RRP: £6.99) is available for pre-order now, at a special reduced price of £4.99 from the Obverse website, and will be released in December 2017: http://obversebooks.co.uk/product/s1-xmas-box/
