The Party’s Just Beginning: Karen Gillan’s directorial debut

❉ Blue Finch Film Releasing presents The Party’s Just Beginning in select cinemas and on demand next month.

The Party’s Just Beginning is a darkly humorous and moving coming-of-age story from debut director Karen Gillan (Jumanji, Doctor Who, Avengers: Endgame)…

In the bleak Scottish winter, witty and sarcastic Liusaidh (Karen Gillan) is spiralling into a reckless, drunken, mid-twenties crisis. Filling her days and nights with casual joyless sex, junk food and a belief in ‘the power of positive drinking’ she’s plagued by visions of her best friend Alistair (Matthew Beard) throwing himself from a bridge. With bittersweet memories of the time spent with her friend, Liusaidh struggles to connect with anyone until a chance encounter with a stranger from out of town (Lee Pace).

Tackling a range of mental health and gender issues with a jet-black streak of Scottish humour, Karen Gillan crafts a bold, challenging and finely observed comedy-drama in this must-see debut work.

The Party’s Just Beginning is written and directed and stars Karen Gillan. Co-starring Lee Pace (The Hobbit series), Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game) and Paul Higgins (Victoria and Abdul).
