Podcast of the Week: The DredgeLand Podcast Spectacular

❉ Bizarre ramblings and nonsensical audio wanderings from lunatic comedy double-act John Dredge and Andy Harland.

We’re big fans of podcasts here at We Are Cult, and we’re always looking for new shows to subscribe to. So if you’re looking for ear candy, we’re here to help!

Each week we profile must-hear podcasts by giving podcast creators a platform to tell us about their shows in their own words.

This week: Comedian and podcaster John Dredge tells us all about The DredgeLand Podcast Spectacular.

What’s your podcast about?

We burble on in a ridiculous yet stupid manner for half of an hour of the day. Sometimes we do outside broadcasts and we have been as far afield as Penge. Sometimes we discuss our next-door neighbour, Bernie Clifton, and his motorbike made out of twiglets. Often Haircut 100 are involved, and also bats. We’re doing an episode for Comic Relief in March as part of the world’s longest podcasting marathon, which should be absolutely splendid and splondid. @

If you had to describe your show in 10 words or less, what would you say?

Wacky, zutty, zany, oddball, not normal.

Which episode would you recommend for a first-time listener? Do you have a favourite episode?

They all have their contrafibularities although I enjoy some of the outside broadcasts which have mainly come from outside.

What inspired you to create this podcast?

A man appeared to me in a flaming cupcake and said ‘Go forth and make podcasts.’ He was later spurned in a hideous spurning accident.

Which guests have you had on your podcast?

We are lucky enough to have had Iain Lee and Robin Ince on the show. Both are highly entertaining and generous people.

Which equipment do you use for your podcast set-up?

We use a special DredgeLand Electro-Retro Low-Rent Quangalizer with built-in burgon dispensers and semi-permeable twig net.

Which podcasts (other than yours) would you recommend we listen to?

The Rabbit Hole – Iain Lee’s innovative audience-based phone in show. It is off its head.

Where is your podcast available to listen to?

I-tunes and ting. Go to and ask from there. Failing that, enquire at your local pic ‘n’ mix emporium.

What is the future of podcasting as a creative medium?

No future, no future, no future for you. Thank you.
