Podcast of the Week: Caged In

This week: One Man’s Journey through the good, the bad and damn right ridiculous career of Nicolas Cage.

We’re big fans of podcasts here at We Are Cult, and we’re always looking for more shows to subscribe to. So if you’re looking for ear candy, we’re here to help!

This week: Petros Patsilivas tells us all about the Caged In Podcast, a weekly deep dive into the career of Nicolas Cage in chronological order.

What’s your podcast about?

The Caged In Podcast is a weekly deep dive into the career of Nicolas Cage in chronological order. I am looking to see if like Cage my sanity will slip like how his has seemed to, so every 10 films I partake in an IQ test to see how the experience has waned on me.

If you had to describe your show in 10 words or less, what would you say?

Good, Bad, Ridiculous look at career of Nic Cage.

Which episode would you recommend for a first-time listener? Do you have a favourite episode?

I’d recommend Episode 10: Never On Tuesday because that might be the first time that this experience had really got the best of me. Or just any of the films you like.

What inspired you to create this podcast?

I thought about doing a podcast for ages and bounded a load of ideas around. There was something about Nicolas Cage that fascinated me, he’s somewhat of an anomaly and thought it’d be funny to do. Once I’d started I realised I wasn’t the only person that had an idea to do a Nic Cage based podcast. There’s something like 8-10. I find that pretty funny and weird. It’s cool that people can find the voice they relate on such a niche subject.

Which guests have you had on your podcast so far?

So far guest-wise I’ve had friends, other Podcasters and even my own girlfriend (Episode 17: Honeymoon In Vegas).

Some of the highlights for me were James Hunt of Sorta’Ghostly podcast and the Face/Off Commentary I did with Tonight With… Bob And Joe.

Who would be your dream guest?

Nic Cage without a doubt.

Which equipment do you use for your podcast set-up?

I use a SE Electronics X1-A with a interface into a Mac book.

What would you say is the best length of time for a podcast episode?

I always think that they should be as long as they need to be.

Which podcasts (other than yours) would you recommend we listen to?

A few podcasts I enjoy are The Bitter End, Tonight With…Bob And Joe, Spocklight and Those Movie Guys.

Where is your podcast available to listen to?

What is the future of podcasting as a creative medium?

Hopefully it continues to give people the chance to hear conversations or information when they want. I hope it stays long form and doesn’t pander to shorter attention spans. I feel a lot of investigative journalism in the vein of S-Town and Jon Ronson’s: The Butterfly Effect will continue to grow and that’s great.
