Drive-in Scaryday

❉ Aberdeen Football Club are turning their stadium car park into an American-style drive-in cinema for a showing of classic cult horror film ‘The Exorcist’.

The venue has had previous success with a limited all-ticket showing of a Christmas film last December and is now branching out for two runs of the film on Friday 28 October 2016 to coincide with Hallowe’en.

The film is being shown twice, at 5pm and at 9pm, although patrons have to arrive at least 30 minutes before in order to park up and test that their FM radio can receive the film’s sound.

Tickets are £21 per car, limited to 240 vehicles in total, and are only available by calling (01224) 650430 with a credit or debit card.

‘The Exorcist’ was released in 1973, directed by William Friedkin (‘To Live and Die in L.A.’, ‘Rules of Engagement’) and stars Ellen Burstyn as the mother of a possessed 12-year-old girl played by Linda Blair. Max von Sydow and Jason Miller play the Catholic priests attempting to exorcise the demon. Adjusted for inflation, the film is the ninth highest-grossing of all time.

  1. NE Man sez: I have finally lived long enough to see Pittodrie turned into a drive-in. What a wonderful world we live in where such madness is possible. Useful hint for would-be attendees: thermal undies. The Costa Del Seagull gets affa cal’.
